SONG OF THE WEEK: Silver Balloons by Little Boots (week beginning 1 October 2021)

WORTH A LOOK?: ****

English electropop singer-songwriter and DJ Victoria Hesketh is preparing to release her 1st album since 2015’s Working Girl and this is the lead single from it.

  • Read on for reasons including how to see Little Boots on tour in October

Last year Boots was featured artist on a song of the week for us with LP Giobbi called Meet Again and she’s also worked with Drag Race UK star Tia Kofi.

We saw her live in 2009 and 2012 and do so again in October when she celebrates the release of her 1st new solo single in a while, Silver Balloons (watch below), including a London gig at Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club. Tickets

Silver Balloons is a real bop in the trademark Boots’ electropop tradition and we’re loving the sentiment of the lyric which includes: ‘Your trash is somebody’s treasure/Your guilt is another one’s pleasure ….all killer, no filler.’

Not only that but Boots will be playing at the ABBA Voyage shows in east London next year.

She says: ‘It is an absolute honour to share that I will be joining ABBA Voyage live on stage on keyboards/ synthesisers and backing vocals. As anyone who knows me will tell you, I have been a lifelong @abba fan

‘My love for the songs of Abba runs hard and deep, there is no other songwriting I have been more inspired by throughout my career, in my opinion, it is the most life-affirming, heart wrenching, joyful, liberating, powerful pop music on the planet.

‘It has already been a dream to spend time in the studio with my musical heroes. I am beyond excited for this journey to continue and to have the privilege of performing these songs with a group of the most incredible musicians I have ever played with. The sound of this band will give you goosebumps!’

So that’s Little Boots X ABBA, something we’re very much looking forward to hearing.
