2. The Phlebotomist transfers from Downstairs at the Hampstead Theatre
We shortlisted this Ella Road piece about how genetics dictate the opportunities available to us as 1 of our Best New Plays of last year and are delighted it’s transferring with its original star, Jade Anouka, to the larger stage at this venue. 3. Eurovision selection season in full swing
Hera Björk’s Moving On competes in the Icelandic final 2/3 and is our Song Of The Month for March. An honourable mention to Spirit In The Sky in Norway and the Melodifestivalen final in Sweden 9/3 which features monstagigz favourites Wiktoria (see above) and Lina Hedlund (see below).
4. Grief Is The Thing With Feathers comes to the Barbican
Cillian Murphy stars in Enda Walsh’s adaptation of Max Porter’s novel about love, loss and living at the Barbican. Runs 13/3 to 23/4/19. Tickets
5. Sigrid finally launches Sucker Punch album
Debut album Sucker Punch is out 8/3 and she supports George Ezra on an arena tour this year. We saw her twice last year, most recently at Brixton Academy, and she’s a live force to be reckoned with as well as a fine songwriter. She headlines a UK tour later this year with a London gig at the Eventim Apollo 4/12/19. Tickets
6. Deutschland ’86 arrives on Channel 4
Star Jonas Nay won our Best TV/Film actor monsta in 2016 for Deutschland ’83 and its 2nd season premieres on Channel 4 8/3.
7. Sophie Ellis Bextor releases The Song Diaries album
We last saw a pregnant Ellis-Bextor at a joyous, disco-infused Southbank Centre preview gig last year for this orchestral greatest hits album. 8. Hair disrobes for tour
X Factor stars Jake Quickenden (pictured above) and Marcus Collins celebrate the 50th anniversary of controversial musical Hair on tour this month starting at Wimbledon Theatre. The tour lasts for five months taking in 18 venues including 1 in Germany. Tickets
9. Admissions made at Trafalgar Studios
Alex Kingston and Sara Hadland star in this comedy about the Head of Admissions at a private school fighting to diversify the student intake. It runs at Trafalgar Studios until 25/5/19. Tickets
