9 reasons why we can’t wait for June 2025 starring Rachel Zegler as Jamie Lloyd’s Evita

  1. Jamie Lloyd’s Evita at the Palladium

Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre hosted Lloyd’s Evita in 2019 but we’re imagining this Palladium incarnation will be different starring as it does West Side Story‘s Zegler. We’re hoping it will be more Romeo And Juliet than Sunset Boulevard. Runs at the Palladium 14 June through 6 September 2025. Tickets Our review

2. This Bitter Earth starring Omari Douglas

Billy Porter makes his UK directorial debut of Douglas (Lavender, Hyacinth, Violet, Yew, Bush Theatre) and Alexander Lincoln (film In From The Side) in this tale of a deep love challenged by divisive political realities. Runs at Soho Theatre 18 June through 26 July 2025. Tickets Our review

3. More from Pulp

Lead single Spike Island was our May song of the month. We said: ‘While Spike Island may wish to lyrically convey some of the magic of a track like Sorted For Es and Whizz, it’s only got us swaying slightly rather than burning up the dancefloor like a Disco 2000.’ More is the band’s 1st new album in 24 years and they tour including gigs at The 02 in London in June.  Tickets Our review

4. Ruth Wilson in A Moon For The Misbegotten

Wilson (The Human Voice, Harold Pinter Theatre) stars opposite Michael Shannon and David Threlfall under Rebecca Frecknall’s (Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, Almeida) direction in Eugene O’Neill’s tale of 2 people brought together on a single night which reveals a devastating truth. Runs at the Almeida Theatre 17 June through 16 August 2025. Tickets

5. Lorde Virgin LP

Lead-off single What Was That was a song of the week for us. Lorde’s 4th LP Virgin is released 27 June. Tour details have been released and Lorde plays The 02 in London in November. Tickets

6. Marina is Princess Of Power

Princess Of Power is Marina’s (formerly And The Diamonds) 6th album and is released 6 June. Singles from it include Butterfly, Cupid’s Girl and Cuntissimo. We last saw her live at the Eventim Apollo in 2019 and wrote: ‘We last saw Marina four years ago at the Palladium and there’s enough commitment, talent and tunes tonight for us to hope next album, her fifth, will be nowhere near so far away.’ Tickets

7. The Ministry of Lesbian Affairs

Introducing the only lesbian choir in the country in Iman Qureshi’s play about a rag-tag group trying to win a place on the Pride mainstage. Returns to the Kiln Theatre after a sold-out premiere at Soho Theatre in 2022. Cast includes Leah Harvey (As You Like It, @SohoPlace) and Liz Carr (The Normal Heart, National Theatre) and runs 13 June through 12 July 2025. Tickets

8. 28 Years Later

Written by Alex Garland and directed by Danny Boyle this is the 3rd in this post-apocalyptic series of horror thriller films and this time stars Jodie Comer (Prima Facie, Harodl Pinter Theatre) and Ralph Fiennes (Richard III, Almeida). Opens in the UK 20 June 2025.
