It’s been quite the year, it’s almost Christmas and what would the festive season be without some recognition of the best of 2022? Over the next month we’ll shortlist five nominees in each of 16 categories for our 8th annual Oscars, or monstas if you will, of 2022.

Has to been The Divine Comedy. Such an extraordinary feat to perform so much different songs over the five songs with the tempo, energy and atmosphere staying at fever pitch from the first song to the final encore.

The Divine Comedy’s residency at the Barbican was simply sublime. Over five days, the band and their accompanying seven-piece ensemble played c115 songs – amazing!
These were the gigs of my life, never mind the year!
