SONG OF THE WEEK: All For You by Cian Ducrot with Ella Henderson (Monday 15 August 2022)

WORTH A LOOK?: ****

Not all relationships end neatly and here’s a beautiful duet between 2 people who are no longer together but still care about each other.

  • Read on for reasons including how to see both Ella and Cian on tour this autumn

Who couldn’t empathise as Henderson sings: ‘I still call you at 2am when I find a moment of you in him’ or as Ducrot explains: ‘But I’m just a little too late to be what you needed but I hope that he is’?

This is a re-imagined version of Ducrot’s latest single which featured in ITV2’s Love Island and includes a new verse written by Henderson which opens out this touching and rousing piano ballad and gives it a beautifully rounded sense of a faltered relationship that is complicated but not quite without spark.

Irish Cian plays London’s Lafayette next month as part of a 9-date UK tour ahead of supporting Ella across 8 UK gigs between 15 and 25 October culminating at a show we join them for at 02 Shepherd’s Bush Empire where we very much hope this duet will form an important part of proceedings.

Cian says: ‘Working on this new version was very surreal to me as I used to sing some of Ella’s songs back in Ireland when I would busk and gig on the weekends so I am still very much in a pinch me moment! We put a lot of love into this version to make it as authentic and real as possible and to maintain the original essence of the song! I’m so excited for everyone to hear it!’

Ella says: ‘For me Cian is the real deal. He is such a talented musician & authentic artist which is why I chose him to join me on my UK tour later this year in October! It’s been a lot of fun getting in the studio and rewriting our new version of All For You together. My favourite thing about working with Cian is he is a storyteller which is so important to me when I write a song. We definitely connected the dots on this record to find a way of making the duet feel truthful, raw and honest. I love this song so much and I can’t wait for our fans to hear it!’

Ella’s album Everything I Didn’t Say went top 10 in March, was an album of the week for us and she’s had 2 tracks not on it go top 10 this year already.

1 track that is on it is her Tom Grennan duet which was 1 of our favourite songs of lockdown and we can’t help but wonder if All For You is so good that it can’t help but repeat the success of Let’s Go Home Together.
