WORTH A LOOK?: ****1/2
RELEASED: 25 June 2021
We’ve had a listen of The Blow Monkeys’ new album Journey To You released in September and this 3rd single from it is the 10-track collection’s opener as well as a brilliant introduction.
- Read on for reasons including our thoughts on the band’s most recent singles More Than A Miracle and Time Storm
Strings glide elegantly into life and lead singer Dr Robert is clearly admiring and offering thanks to someone important in his life, singing: ‘I was Dust At Her Feet never felt so complete, I was there just to learn the ways of the world.’
The songwriting is classic, anthemic, rousing and really quite moving and reminds of the best of the band’s back catalogue but is different enough from it not to be overawed by the classics it is ultimately going to be compared with like Digging Your Scene, It Doesn’t Have To Be This Way and Wait.
We’d say there are elements of classic Bacharach and David as well as T-Rex in the sublime songwriting.
We interviewed Dr Robert earlier this year about the strength of the new album, how it sits well with the band’s most beloved material and he said: ‘I do think this 1 is right up there. You learn your craft, keep on writing and sometimes something else just comes into the room.’

The album’s a real treat and we’ve written about previous singles Time Storm and More Than A Miracle, song of the month for us in April, and we can’t wait to see the band on tour this autumn for the 1st time since we saw them at the height of their popularity in London at various venues in the 80s and 90s.
