WORTH A LOOK?: ****
OUT: now
A Christmas Wish is a banger with sleigh bells, a seasonal theme and a Phil Spector-goes-Motown energy.
- Read on for reasons including where to see Knight on a West End stage next
It’s from a film we suspect we won’t see, The Loss Adjuster, but its most vital component is that it’s sung by musical theatre star Knight who we described in a recent review of Pantoland at the Palladium as ‘this country’s best ever live singer’.
We should know because we not only saw her there but at a lockdown gig this year as well as last when she blew the roof of the Southbank Centre for the climax of a Eurythmics Songbook event.
We said then: ‘It is left to Beverley Knight (see main picture and video above) to absolutely boss a blistering final trio of songs ending perhaps with the song for which the Eurythmics are best known.’
Fans will know that she was supposed to be appearing as the lead at the Garrick Theatre in new musical The Drifters’ Girl and booking for this has now been postponed until March 2022. Tickets
