It’s Christmas and what would the festive season be without some recognition of the best of 2017? Over the next few days we’ll shortlist five nominees in each of 13 categories for our Oscars, or monstas if you will, of 2017.

4. John Partridge (La Cage Aux Folles, touring production)

5. Andrew Scott (Hamlet, Almeida, then Harold Pinter Theatre) To be shown on BBC2 in 2018

    Andrew Scott as Hamlet because he was the best out of all of them (seen all of the productions) and totally brilliant. Bertie Carvel close second.
