WHEN?: All May 2025 at Papillon, Southampton
Snapped Ankles are a Mr H thing, but off we went to our favourite new venue, Papillon in Southampton. We have a tea towel from the tour, Hard Times Furious Dancing, hanging in our disco area. They certainly do make you move!

Their thing is that they don’t reveal themselves, in fact the lead singer looked like a green man but did at the end strip off his T-shirt, still not revealing his face. He has a very odd microphone stand, which has been created to become a drum. It’s very odd but interesting. He also not just crowd surfs, but brings his keyboard and plays it on top of his head whilst walking around the audience and standing with them awhile.
Great performers and I Want My Minutes Back, my favourite, is a stomper.
The Pill We first saw them last year opening for Welly in Southampton (Heartbreakers). They were fun and I loved their song about being a girl with big tits who’d just hit your car. Fast forward nearly a year and oh my, haven’t they changed!
I’d go as far as to say they nearly stole the show from Panic Shack, who they were supporting. They had complete control of the audience, dealing perfectly well with any heckling. Dance routines had appeared, surely after seeing Panic Shack do theirs. It’s hard not to compare them to fellow Isle of Wighters, Wet Leg, but actually I found them more interesting than Wet Leg and more raw. They’ve since been on 6Music playing live for Lammo. Great things ahead.
Panic Shack This is the third time now that we’ve seen them and they just get more and more awesome each time. I’ve loved following them on Insta, their dance routines have me in stitches. I’d just love to go down the pub with them, I love them so much.
New single Thelma and Louise goes down a storm. They try something different with a punky version of I Don’t Really Like It, with a bit of The Ting Ting’s That’s Not My Name. It’s hard for me to have a favourite, though The Ick is the first one we’d ever heard. Each song means so much to me, Gok Wan’s message about loving yourself as you are, Meal Deal’s lyrics about just wanting to eat something, just a sarnie, nothing fancy. Who’s Got My Lighter – I just can’t imagine any other band using the lyrics “Baccy comes and goes” so well. But I just adore Jiu Jits You. Any why? Cos I fuckin’ told you. Get down and see them. Now.
