WORTH A LOOK?: ****
Shears has a new solo album Last Man Dancing released 2 June and this is the 2nd single from it and it’s uptempo and lots of fun.
- Read on for reasons including everything we know about Shears’ new album and tour including London date
Shears co-wrote our Best New Musical of 2022 with Elton John – Tammy Faye at the Almeida – which we’re expecting a cast recording for ahead of a West End transfer.
The former Scissor Sisters’ frontman has also announced a few dates around the album’s release including at London’s Village Underground and the last time we saw him on tour at the Scala we said: ‘Well, there are a sprinkling of the Sisters’ greatest hits here and the show’s highlight is when Shears leaps exuberantly into the crowd to sing big hit Take Your Mama with them.’
That 2nd solo album features a collaboration with Kylie Minogue and Shears is a performer and writer who can always be relied upon to be doing something interesting and often worthy of the dancefloor.
He may never have quite recaptured the popularity of his band in their heyday but it’s always a pleasure to hear some of those hits incorporated in his own extremely entertaining live sets.
