27/7 will mark the 50th anniversary of the repeal of the law against homosexuality and BBC4 has commissioned the filming of eight monologues curated by Mark Gatiss and featuring authors including Jackie Clune performed by stars such as Ben Whishaw (pictured above), Russell Tovey and Alan Cumming. UPDATE: 4/7: No sign of Whishaw or Cumming in the Old Vic casting announced today but it does include Tovey, Gemma Whelan, Sarah Crowe, Ian Gelder, Mark Bonnar & Kadiff Kirwan. Tickets

2. Cat On A Hot Tin Roof starring Jack O’Connell

From Channel 4’s Skins to Hollywood, Jack O’Connell’s ascent to stardom has been meteoric. Here he stars with Sienna Miller in this Tennessee Williams classic at the Apollo. It’s a Young Vic production helmed by Benedict Andrews whose A Streetcar Named Desire there starring Gillian Anderson was unforgettable. We’re hoping for much more than the damp squib in Chichester that is Sweet Bird Of Youth starring Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden and Brian J. Smith. Runs 13/7 through 7/10. Tickets

3. Sir Ian McKellen talks at the Park Theatre

One of our favourite actors is giving a talk entitled Shakespeare, Tolkien, Others and You as a fundraiser for Finsbury Park’s best kept theatrical secret. Runs 3/9 to 9/7. Tickets

4. Frank Ocean at Lovebox

This Victoria Park festival celebrates its 15th birthday with a 14/7 headline set from one of the world’s biggest stars. Tickets

5. Girl From The North Country arrives at the Old Vic

Bob Dylan’s music features in this Conor McPherson-written (author of BBC2’s unsettling Paula) piece starring Sheila Atim (pictured above by Manuel Harlan via Facebook courtesy Old Vic in rehearsal), Karl Queensborough and Arinze Kene amongst others. Runs 8/7 – 7/10 Tickets

6. Mosquitoes at the National

Olivia Colman stars in this new play at the National pictured above with the cast courtesy National Theatre via Facebook which runs 18/7 – 28/9. Tickets

7. Game Of Thrones airs

The penultimate seven-episode season seven returns to Sky Atlantic in the UK 16/7.

8. Little Mix in Greenwich

One of our favourite girl groups is on tour this year promoting their undercooked recent Glory Days LP and call into Greenwich Music Time 7/7. Tickets Luckily much else of their back catalogue is stellar.

9. Apologia at Trafalgar Studios

Grease and The West Wing star Stockard Channing takes a bow in a new play directed by Jamie Lloyd at Trafalgar Studios 29/7 – 18/11.

Freema Agyeman (Doctor Who, Sense8) and Laura Carmichael (Downton Abbey, The Maids) also star. Tickets
