5. Kim Wilde
The 30,000 tickets for 80s festival Rewind South at Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, 21-23/8 sold out this month. We’ve picked our favourites from the 27 acts performing and in at number 5 is the turn no train journey would be complete without. This YouTube clip of Kim Wilde returning home from a party performing Kids In America and Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree went viral. Performing on Saturday we hope she also plays You Came and You Keep Me Hangin’ On. Train optional.
5. The soundtrack
A confession: we’ve loved the soundtrack since we bought it after Kinky Boots, which is in previews at the Adelphi Theatre from 21/8, won six Tonys in 2013. Hold Me In Your Heart (You Tube clip above) is the showstopper Whitney should’ve recorded. But there’s so much more to the soundtrack than that.
5pm Saturday on the John Peel Stage and Y&Y lead singer Olly Alexander is sporting a glittery rainbow top to mark London’s Pride celebrations. A triumphant 12-song set saves the best ’til last with King (monstagigz single of 2015 so far). We’d predict debut album Communion (out 11/7) is more r’n’b than Depeche Mode. Ones to watch. New single Shine available 5/7.
