  1. Pet Shop Boys Obscure at Electric Ballroom, Camden

Do I Have To? We All Feel Better In The Dark. Shameless. Pet Shop Boys Tennant and Lowe have been releasing extraordinary songs since the 80s and this 5-night residency of Obscure tracks at Camden’s Electric Ballroom in London Monday 6 April through Friday 10 April 2026 has long been sold out. We join Neil and Chris there for a post-Dreamworld (Glastonbury Festival) check in. Tickets if you’re very lucky

  • Read on for reasons including Monica Dolan at the Donmar, Cuckoo revived and Romola Garai’s Doll’s House

2. Mass at the Donmar starring Monica Dolan

Dolan won our 2019 Best Theatre Actress monsta for Appropriate at this very venue and returns with Adeel Akhtar (The Cherry Orchard, Donmar) and Paul Hilton (Juno And The Paycock, Gielgud Theatre) in this story about two couples having a conversation no parent should ever have to face. Runs at the Donmar 18 April through 6 June 2026. Tickets

3. One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest starring Giles Terera

Terera (Oh Mary!, Trafalgar Theatre) stars opposite Michelle Gomez and Aaron Pierre at the Old Vic in Clint Dyer’s take on this classic about a psychiatric ward and a patient who unsettles the facility. Runs at the Old Vic Theatre 1 April through 23 May 2026. Tickets

4. Romola Garai’s A Doll’s House at the Almeida

Garai (Giant, Royal Court Theatre) won an Olivier for Best Actress In A Supporting Role for The Years in 2025 and here returns to the Almeida for a revival of Ibsen’s A Doll House running through 31 March through 16 May 2026. Tickets

5. Drag Race UK’s vs The World Kate Butch at Wilton’s Music Hall

Butch currently stars in RuPaul spin off Drag Race UK vs The World and brings her new cabaret UK tour to London’s Wilton’s Music Hall this month. Tickets We last saw Butch at Soho Theatre and wrote: ‘What would Bush think? We had the pleasure of seeing Victoria Wood live several times and the quick-wittedness and daring humour ambling amongst us here very much reminded us of that comedy genius.’ Her contribution to I’m In Love With An Alien (listen above) show what a winning way with words she has. ‘Set phasers to stunning.’

6. Flyby at Southwark Playhouse

Stuart Thompson (Radiant Boy: A Haunting, Southwark Playhouse) stars in this new musical originally developed at the National Theatre about a brilliant but unpredictable engineer who disappears into the void and a fiercely intelligent documentary film maker with a complicated past. Runs at Southwark Playhouse (The Large, Borough) 3 April through 16 May 2026. Tickets

7. Scissor Sisters live LP

It’s 10pm … Do you Know Where Your Sisters Are?: Live At The 02 is the title of the new Scissor Sisters’ live album. It’s a gig we reviewed last year writing: ‘But on this stage with a sell-out Friday night crowd the atmosphere is electric from the off and when Sir Ian McKellen appears to narrate the fabulously intense and throbbing Frankie Goes To Hollywood-esque Invisible Light the line about ‘fiercely old party children’ rings especially true and the roof of The 02 feels like it just might be lifted off by the ecstatic crowd response.’ A band we’ve seen a tremendous amount of live. We wouldn’t have it Any (Which) Way. Always amazing value. Album out 24 April 2026 band plays festival gigs this year. Tickets We’re still here for Ana Matronic’s much anticipated return.

8. Rachel Zegler to dominate 2026 Oliviers Awards in London

Nick Mohammed (A Christmas Carol-ish By Mr Swallow, Soho Theatre) hosts the 50th anniversary awards from London’s Royal Albert Hall on 12 April 2026 which switches channels from ITV to the BBC. 4 of our theatre monstas winners are shortlisted including Rachel Zegler, EVITA, Bryan Cranston and Punch.
