WORTH A LOOK?: ****
We’re writing this from a holiday in Iceland where we’re planning a visit to Norway to see the Northern Lights and this 1st track written for Alison Goldfrapp’s 2nd album Flux couldn’t be more pertinent.
- Read on for reasons including why Flux is 1 of the most eagerly awaited albums of the summer
She descibes Sound & Light as about ‘the excitement of an open vista and wanting to embrace a new feeling of emotional freedom’.
‘I’d been chasing the Northern Lights for years. I’d gone to Finland, Iceland and Norway but never managed to catch them.’
After writing the song in Southern Sweden the Northern Lights revealed themselves to her that evening and, listening to the track, you can feel how she might’ve summoned them by capturing their magnificence so beautifully in song.
If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll now have heard two-fifths of Flux with Reverberotic and Find Xanadu, a song of the week for us, both played on Goldfrapp’s arena tour supporting Scissor Sisters where we saw her at The 02.
We descibed it as ‘the perfect warm up with the audience out of their seats from the moment she took to the stage striking Bowie moves and entertaining with live keyboardist, drummer and dancers’.
There’s also a new song Hey Hi Hello which is just out marking Flux as 1 of the most eagerly awaited albums of the summer.
