WORTH A LOOK?: ****
This year Ducrot won a Grammy for Best R&B Song for his work on SZA’s Saturn and this is the 3rd release from his sophomore album Little Dreaming out next month.

We prefer his more traditional work and this underscores the feeling of community we often experience when listening to our favourite material of his exemplified by this chorus sentiment: ‘So if you heart’s been broken sing Sha La La la. And if your love’s been cheated on Sha La La la.’
It follows the new album’s title track which is upbeat and very radio friendly and debut song Who’s Making You Feel It? which have fuelled our enthusiasm for a follow up to UK chart-topping album Victory in 2023.
We last saw Ducrot live at the Eventim Apollo in November 2023 and wrote: ‘It’s this heartfelt sincerity and authenticity that runs through all his material which makes you think, even when he’s wielding a flute during 1 of the early numbers, that this artist is just so talented that he can convince with anything musical that he wishes to turn his mind to.’
He won 2023’s Best Gig monsta for an earlier appearance at Camden’s KOKO when we wrote: ‘We’re up on the balcony and the predominantly young 20-something audience gasp when he explains the inspiration behind Part Of Me about a close friend who took his own life.
‘This brave, heart-on-the-sleeve songwriting is just 1 reason why there is so much to grab the attention here. In other hands the subject matter could be mawkish but this brilliant singer and multi-instrumentalist is so moving when he observes: ‘Tell your mother how we used to laugh but that will never bring you back.’
Little Dreaming is out 11 July 2025 and Ducrot’s touring through the rest of the year with ticket details at the link below.
