WORTH A LOOK?: ****1/2
Welcome to the debut collaboration of 2 of Norway’s biggest pop exports and it’s a dancefloor banger in keeping with Kygo’s previous work but a step away from what you might expect from Sigrid.
- Read on for reasons including how now is a really interesting time for Sigrid fans as we await indications of what her eagerly-awaited 3rd album might sound like
The Feeling is actually a track from Kygo’s self-titled 5th album which was released this summer and he co-wrote the track with Johan Lindbrandt and Julia Gargano.
It’s upbeat and infectious and includes euphoric lyrics like: ‘It’s like I’m walking on air tonight, you got me off the ground, Now that I’ve been up this high, I ain’t never coming down.’
It’s certainly less introspective than we’re used to hearing from Sigrid and comes as a welcome reminder of her talent in the wake of her 2nd album How To Let Go which was released in 2022.
We last saw her live at OVO Arena, Wembley months after it was released and said: ‘This then is a gig that’s a lot of fun and it’s the most enjoyable we’ve ever seen Sigrid – Glastonbury this year was also a real high – and if she can keep up the quality of her songwriting there’s no reason why we can’t see her playing far bigger stages.
‘As we leave this venue, alongside thousands of delighted fans, we glance across to the iconic Wembley Stadium and think that, one day, perhaps in the not-too-distant future even, it would be very lucky to have an older Sigrid Solbakk Raabe playing on its stage.’
Kygo has already topped the charts in Norway with this album and it features Nile Rodgers amongst its collaborators.
Now is a really interesting time for Sigrid fans as we await any indications of what her eagerly-awaited 3rd album might sound like.
She plays festival gigs in Norway this summer and then we can only hope we might hear something from it soon.
