It’s a perfect summer night for an outdoor gig and this American super group arrive on stage shortly after this unusual venue’s advertised 9pm opening time.

  • Read on for reasons including how this was a well-honed, hits-based set that was definitely worth seeing in such a beautiful outdoor venue like this

Toto is an American pop rock band formed in 1977 which has released 14 studio albums and sold over 40 million records worldwide.

Poble Espanyol is a village of more than 100 life-size recreations of buildings familiar to Spain including a typical Andalusian neighbourhood to a Catalan Romanesque monastery, as well as traditional Galician architecture.

When the 8-strong live band get it right as they do during the final 2 songs for which they are arguably best known tonight – Rosanna and Africa – they are up there with the live genius that is Fleetwood Mac for reproducing 80s hits in all their hard rock married to more melodic elements glory.

But 1 suspects that the women in Fleetwood Mac would not stand for some of the musical showing off that sees some of the songs here played for far too long than the tunes themselves actually merit.

We enjoy singing along with the hyper enthusiastic crowd to Africa in particular because we travel to the continent for our 1st ever safari visit 6 weeks tonight.

The Dogz Of Oz Tour features lead singer Joseph Williams who is the son of prolific film composer John Williams and including provided the singing voice of adult Simba in the 1994 animated film The Lion King.

This was a beautiful and memorable setting for an outdoor gig which started shortly after we made it into the venue after queuing for over half an hour in the car park outside and we hope that the many people behind us there made it into the courtyard ahead of the earlier-than-expected gig start.

Toto is a slick and entertaining band with a well-honed, hits-based set that is definitely worth seeing in such a beautiful outdoors venue like this 1.
