22-year-old Norwegian twins Marcus and Martinus Gunnarsen compete for Sweden in the 68th Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday 11 May in Malmo and perform 1st.

It’s the 1st time in 54 years that a host country has opened the final and the last time a song performed 1st won Eurovision was in 1984 when The Herreys won for Sweden with Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley.

Being Unforgettable with 25 songs performed after M&M is made easier however this year with a rule change which means the audience can vote from the beginning of the show rather than once all entries have been performed as was tradition.

Critics have described the song as ‘Jedward – the Faithless remix’ and it should be remembered that Irish twins Jedward actually have a strong Eurovision record finishing 8th in 2011 with Lipstick, a charttopper in their home country, and 19th in 2012 with Waterline.

We said Unforgettable was the only potential Eurovision winner going into the 2024 Melodifestivalen final and wrote: ‘Last year’s runner-up Air was good but Unforgettable is next level. Co-writer Thörnfeldt has 4 other songs in this year’s finalen and this is a pulsating slice of Faithless-style dance music that is presented memorably with the stage restricted as Tattoo‘s was and something visually magical created that is as busy as the song.’

Tickets are already onsale for a European Marcus and Martinus tour in both 2024 and 2025 including a north London gig where we will join them.

M&M were child stars and unusually have already released 3 albums but not 1 for 7 years. We hope to hear the new one soon.
