Star Bette Midler bids farewell to the Tony Award-winning revival on 14/1/18 leaving it in the capable hands of Bernadette Peters. Charlie Stemp (Half A Sixpence and Dick Whittington) joins the cast on 20/1/18. Does his arrival signal an imminent West End transfer? Booking through July. Tickets

2. Hangmen at the Atlantic Theater Company
Look out for the name of author Martin McDonagh in 2018. The film which he wrote and directed (Three Billboards Outside Of Ebbing Missouri) is a favourite for this year’s Oscars. This dark comedy starring Reece Shearsmith (Inside No 9 and League Of Gentlemen) originated at London’s Royal Court Theatre before we saw the West End transfer (in which Shearsmith did not appear). Runs 18/1/18 through 4/3/18. Tickets
3. Angels In America at the Neil Simon Theatre
This National Theatre production was shortlisted for two 2017 monstas (Best Actor, Andrew Garfield and Best Revival) and retains most of the London cast including Garfield, Nathan Lane, Denise Gough and James McCardle (who we saw pre-Christmas in the audience at London’s Donmar Theatre for the disappointing Belleville (Helena Bonham Carter there too) starring McMafia‘s James Norton). Runs 23/2 to 29/6. Tickets
4. Dear Evan Hansen at the Music Box Theatre
This multiple Tony winner has mental health as its subject and featured the work of the team behind the original music in La La Land, which included City Of Stars, one of our songs of 2017. Booking through November at the Music Box Theatre. Tickets
5. The Boys In The Band go Big Bang
Actor Jim Parsons (who plays Sheldon in TV’s The Big Bang Theory) heads a starry cast, including Zachary Quinto and Matt Bomer, in this revival which opens in April. Tickets
6. Summer: The Donna Summer Musical
What a back catalogue to plunder. Opens March. Tickets
